Healthy Things Grow

Welcome - Blogs - Pastor's Thoughts - Healthy Things Grow
ByJeff TerrellTaggedHarvest
This fall, six Harvest Bible Chapels will launch!  Each church represents a group of believers who are catching the vision for what God is doing through the many churches of Harvest Bible Fellowship across the world.  Each church also represents a pastor and his family experiencing the joys and chellenges of church planting.  As a Launch Team, we spend the last minutes of our weekly meetings to pray for these churches, the pastors, and their families.

I wanted to take the time to put some faces and details with the names:

Please pray for the Blake family and for
God's work through Harvest in Saint Vincent.
Al Blake (St. Vincent, West Indies)
The first time I met Al, I was immediately struck by the joy of the Lord that is
clearly evident in his life.  Al, his wife Debbie, and their two children - Shari
and Matthew - are planted in Saint Vincent in the West Indies.  God has
already begun to shine His favor upon the work in Saint Vincent.  They have
been blessed with a building and are seeing excitement build on the Island
for what the Lord is doing through Harvest.

Al has asked that we pray for:
  • For all the logistics to come together for the launch (Sound equipment, banners, first impressions stuff etc)
  • Pray for our launch team for us to build momentum and for the team to fully embrace the mission and vision of HBC St.Vincent
  • Pray for my family and the leader team, for strength, good health, endurance and cohesiveness as we move forward to our Sept 5th launch.  Satan would like nothing more than to dishearten and discourage the the team as we draw closer to the launch.

Please pray for the Hales and the work at
Harvest in the Durham Region.
Ian Hales (Durham Region, Ontario)
Ian is a fellow graduate of The Master's Seminary, so my friendship with
him began way before the Harvest Training Center.  Ian is a young man
who is mighty in the Scripture.  Ian has an incredible blend of wisdom
and humility and is an exceptional communicator.  Ian and his wife Sarah
have two children - Karis and their new addition, Joshua.  It is such a
privilege to know a young man with so much ability who is so committed
to the pursuit of Christ and His Word.

As you pray for the work in the Durham Region, please pray:
  • Church:
    1) Financial provision for our equipment and resource needs
    2) Continued unity and spiritual growth
    3) Humility and complete dependence upon the Lord
  • Family:
    1) Wisdom in balancing our priorities and responsibilities
    2) Continued spiritual growth

Please pray for Harvest in Austin and the
Payne family.
Bryan Payne (Austin, Texas)
Another Master's Seminary grad, Bryan stood out to me with his wit
and passion for seeing lives transformed by the Gospel.  If I have ever
met someone who seemed wired perfectly for being a church planter, it
would be Bryan.  His personality is infectious - in a good way - and his
sincere love for the people of Austin has been driving him from the first
day we began talking about Harvest.  Bryan and his wife, Lindsey, have
two boys - Nathanael and Caleb.  Just like the other families of the
Training Center, the Paynes became like family to us.  We miss them
terribly but are very happy to share them with the great people of Austin.

Please lift up the needs of the Paynes and the people of Harvest Bible Chapel of Austin:
    • Worship Pastor
    • Finances
    • Translating everything we are doing into Spanish (website, materials, etc)
    • Strength...by feels like it could fall apart at any moment
    • Wisdom...every day is full of decisions that affect many lives
    • Family...that our family will thrive and not just survive under the planting process

Please pray for the Peacocks and Harvest
    Bible Chapel of Calgary.
    Trevor Peacock (Calgary, Alberta)
I had the privilege of serving alongside Trevor and his wife, Heather,
at Grace Community Church in Los Angeles, while Trevor and I were
in seminary.  This wonderful family, including their two girls, Hope and
Gabbie, have a special place in our hearts.  Trevor has an incredible
gift of grace and truth - something we should all aspire to but so often
lack!  Of the men who graduated from the Training Center, Trevor has
the most ministry experience and has generously passed on what he
has learned.  The Peacock family is truly a gift to the Calgary area.

Please pray for the Peacocks and the Lord's work in Calgary in the
    following ways:
    • Pray for the Lord to continue to build the Launch Team
    • Pray for the ministry leaders to effectively communicate the vision to their people
    • Pray for the Lord to protect the Peacock family during the ups and downs of church planting

Please pray for the Posteluk family and
    Harvest Bible Chapel in Joliet.
    Eric Posteluk (Joliet, Illinois)
Eric is one of the most passionate men I have ever met.  I learned
much him in the Training Center in the area of prayer.  Always the
first to volunteer to pray for a need, Eric has a sincere desire to see
the Gospel transform lives.  He and his wife Barbie have been
blessed with four daughters - Corinn, Kiera, Karis, and Kendra.  God
has already begun to bless the work in Joliet mightily, and I look
forward hearing about fruitful days ahead.

Please consider praying for the following needs of the Posteluks and
    Harvest Bible Chapel of Joliet:
    • Wisdom for me to put together a volunteer structure and execute it well
    • For a bass player
    • For a drummer

Please pray for the Whetoe Family and
Harvest Bible Chapel in Gbornee, Liberia.
    Sundygar Whetoe (Gbornee, Liberia)
Pastor Sundygar Whetoe and his wife, Victoria, have six children
and call Gbornee, Liberia home.  Gbornee is located in Grand Bassa
County of Liberia, in a remote place in the forest.  This however, has
not stopped God from penetrating this interior village with the good news
of Jesus Christ.  This is a daughter church of Harvest Buchanan Liberia.
Pastor Sundygar started his ministry in the Salvation Church and served
as an Elder, youth worker and bible teacher.  Sundygar has worked as a
farmer in the interior growing crops to provide for their village.  Nearly 2,500
    people call Gbornee home.

September 19 will mark the day on the calendar when Harvest Gbornee
launches.  Sr. Pastor Sundygar Whetoe and the church are preparing their
mat structure for this occasion.  This will be the fourth Harvest Bible Chapel
in Liberia.  This will serve as the meeting place for 50 adults and 35 children
who worship there.  The church is gathering sand from the nearby creek and
weaving mats of palm braches for the exterior walls.  Harvest Bible Fellowship
provided the funds for the timber, zinc roof and cement floor that will complete
the structure.  Although its rainy season, nothing could put a damper on the momentum of the Christ followers as they prepare the church for what will be
a platform for God’s Word to change lives for eternity in this remote village!
